Something truly remarkable happened in the world of events on May 17-19, 2010. Software firm SAP launched one of the world’s largest hybrid events to date. Co-located on two continents and connecting additional satellite locations in seven cities around the world, it was comprised of 16,000 in-person and 35,000 online delegates, boasted two network TV studios, 600 custom television programs and 1,200 educational sessions. This mega-merger of traditional events, the Internet, broadcast media, and social media was called SAPPHIRE NOW.
Boone Associates and the MPI Foundation funded a major research project to investigate how SAP pulled off this amazing experience that not only transformed the company’s brand, but also impacted the company’s culture. Mary Boone researched and wrote the case.

Meeting professionals had two ways to learn about the Four Elements of Strategic Value recently. At MPI's WEC, a unique interactive session was conducted by Mary Boone, Susan Radojevic, Jack and Patti Phillips, Jay Smethurst and Karen Haas. This session helped participants put together a plan for describing the strategic value of meetings to executives. The July 2009 issue of Successful Meetings Magazine also featured an excellent story on the Four Elements. Here's a podcast with Mary Boone and Susan Radojevic (moderated by Glenn Thayer) describing how the session went and giving an overview of the Four Elements.
Mary Boone shows how to present the case for meetings and events — even in these difficult times. register
